12. Saìvat 413 Deupàòana, Paùupati-nath
The Trident Base
Inscription of Jayalaìbha. Round the base (Jalahari) of a liêga opposite to the northern
door of the temple of Paùupatinath on a platform with a tall brass trident. The inscribed
part is about 71 cm wide and 9 cm long. Date: Saìvat 413 (without particulars). The
trident is not the part of the base. Probably it came to be there being installed later.
In the cloth rubbing of BLI the name of the donor appears to be Jayavarmà, but the ink
rubbing shows Jayalaìbha. The letter is damaged, but on-the-spot examination confirms
DV's reading laìbha. The metre is Vasantatilakà. (R) |
