No. 66. Saìvat 520 Khopàsè Inscription.
| A slab of stone standing on a
thoroughfare in a place called Khopasi, which lies in the south-east outside the Nepal
valley about 4 miles to the south-east of Bhatgaon. The inscribed part is 34 cm wide and
54 cm long. Date: 520 Màgha kðøíapakøa 5. Gnoli says 'It was not possible for me to
examine this inscription on the spot. The characters of this inscription are very clearly
engraved. The rubbing of the Bibliotheque Nationale of Paris, which I have compared,
confirms in full Levi's reading.' But the stone was there standing on the main
thoroughfare in 1953 when I visited the area and took the impression. (R). Bhaòòàraka Mahàràja Ùrè Ùivadeva from Mànagriha, dutaka - Deùavarmma Gomin. On the advice (vijãàpitena) of Ùrè Mahàsàmanta Aìùuvarman; prasàdaõ kðtaõ; asya prasàdasya ùilàpaòòakena prasàdaõ kðtas; samàjãàpanà. Records the grant (prasàda) - prohibition to enter by sarvvàdhikaraías, villagers of Kurppàsè should abide by the decision of the headman (Svatalasvàmin) and they should use only one gate. At the time of opening of the gate and of the procession of Kailàsa ------ each villager would have to give 50 white chalks (ùukla mrittikà). |
