Notes
Seal: Read prasanna, Metre, Ùlîka (Anuøòubh). (Fleet)
L. 1. Read -puràd=vikkram. - The t of puràt is so small and shallow, that it plainly was
only inserted as an afterthought. It is quite superfluous; since its representative by
saìdhi, viz. d, had already been duly engraved in conjunction with the following vi.
(Fleet)
L. 2. Read àmbubhir, or àìbubhir. (Fleet)
L. 3. Read pradaÛ parama, or pradaõ parama. (Fleet, AMS). AMS: (For màtàpitð-) The
sign for medial à is attached to the right lower limb of m here as well as at other
places.
L 4. Read ànuddhyàtaù=ùrè, or ànuddhyàtaõ ùrè; From a comparison of the
corresponding passage in line 4-5 of No. 41 page 198 below, the reading that was intended
is probably pamvàyàì prativàsi. (Fleet)
L. 5. Read kuòumbi, or kuòuìbi; read nas=sam, or naõ sam. (Fleet) This (|) mark of
punctuation is indicated by a short horizontal line.
L. 6. Read gràmas, expunging the mark of punctuation. (Fleet)
L. 7. Fleet read r-àndhakàraì
L. 8. Fleet read sa-nidhis=
L. 9. Read sagîtra-brahma. (Fleet)
L. 10. This mark of punctuation (after svàminå) is exactly like the visarga, as the
latter is written in this inscription. But, that the sign may be interpreted as either a
mark of punctuation or the visarga, is shewn by the regularity with which it occurs where
a mark of punctuation is appropriate, and a visarga is not; and also by the occurrence of
the half mark of punctuation, formed in the same way, and impossible to be mistaken for
anything else, in lines 5 and 6 above, and 22 below, and in lines 5, 15, 16, and 17, of
No. 41, page 198 below. (Fleet) AMS read puíyå(à)bhivradhayå || udaka-pórvva(vvaì)
and in notes Read -vðddhayå-. The punctuation mark found here consists of a couple of
horizontal strokes exactly as in the case of visarga in the previous line. As noted above,
this mark is unnecessary.
L. 11. AMS read =àjíôà(jãà)-. In notes Fleet reads -syàjãà-. But the subscript
attached to j is clearly n and is identical with the sign for ía at the end of this line.
L. 13. Metre, Vasantatilaka. (Fleet)
L. 14. Read pravadanti, or pravadaìti. (Fleet) Fleet read puràíå(íà) ||(|). AMS
These daíäas one superfluous. Read dharmmaì(mam) ||(|)
L. 15. AMS read bhavatu và maì[ti*]r=å-. In 41 we read lîkas=trayas=tåna bhavaìtti
dattàõ
L. 16. Read dattèr= (DNL)
L. 17. Metre, Indravajrà. (Fleet) AMS read =udàharatti, in notes - read haranti
L. 18. The sign for jèhvàmólèya bears very close resemblance to m With the medial sign
for à attached to the right lower limb exactly as in màtà- in line 2 and
samàjãàpayati in line 5 above.
L. 19. Metre, Ùlîka (Anuøòubh); and in the following two verses. (Fleet)
L. 20. AMS read =ànumattà(ntà)
L. 21. Read ùråøòha (for chchhråøòha). (Fleet)
L. 23. Read phalam; supply ùàsanam (for uktè(tkè)rííaì). (Fleet)
