L.7 Viønukuíä[è]nàm : the letters kuíäènàì are engraved in small characters below the ring hole. There is nothing to support the view that the scribe struggled for space to insert the title mahàràja after the expression Viøíukuíäinàm (ED. p. 405) (SN). Hultsch has Murî-ka-ki-
L.10-12 The mutilated passage might have been something like-ùarmmabhyàm=à-candr-àrkka-tàra-samaì Murîdyakaëiki-gràmaõ sarva-parihàra-sahitaõ) saìpradattaõ tad=avagatya sarvair=api jànapadaiõ etc. (SN).

Before this (||) punctuation there is a spiral which Dr. Hultzsch takes for an îm-symbol. Saì stands for saìvatsara, Và, pa, for the Pràkritic Vàsa-pakha=Skt. Varøà-pakøa and di for dina (SN).
