below the ring hole. There is nothing to support the view that the scribe struggled for
space to insert the title mahàràja after the expression Viøíukuíäinàm (ED. p. 405)

which Dr. Hultzsch takes for an îm-symbol. Saì stands for saìvatsara, Và, pa, for the
Pràkritic Vàsa-pakha=Skt. Varøà-pakøa and di for dina (SN).
