No. 28. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.

The inscription is on the left hand side-wall outside the verandah of cave No. 101 over a tank. It is cut to a moderate depth but owing to the honeycombed state of the rock, the letters are not distinct. Some part of the centre of the inscription is peeled off. It measures 1.17 m. x 1.2 m. Letters 9 cm x 5 cm. Characters : Bràhmè, 200 A.D. Language : Prakrit. Orthography: The letters have ornamental medials. (ShG)
