No. 8. Khaídagiri inscription in the Ganesagumpha.
B.D. Banerji - EI.XIII, No 13.17; |
(BB.) This record is incised on the back wall of the right-hand side chamber in the Gaíåùagumphà. The characters belong to the latter half of the eighth or the first half of the ninth century A.D. It mentions a king named Ùàntikara, who is not known from any other record. The inscription is in verse and seems to record some dedication made by Bhèmaòa, a physician, the son of Nannaòa. The second line, which contains the name of the object of the dedication, is unfortunately in a very bad state of preservation, and consequently the purport of the inscription is not very clear. |
