59 Site 39 Sculpture pedestal inscription

This inscription is engraved on the pedestal of sculpture representing a sitting under female figure (now broken) made of white marble stone, found on the northern slope of the Nagarjuna hill, over looking the Krishna river at
Nagarjunakonda, now kept in the Museum.

TEXT (Nôarasimhaswami)

Sidha[m*] | Mahàdåvèya a-vidhavàya j[è]vaputàya Mahàr[à]ja-siri-
[Ehavala Chaìtamu]la-pati[ya] Khaìäuvulàya kàritàti 8 [|] 9

The punctuation (|) is indicated by a hook-like mark.
This ([Ehavala Chaìtamu]) portion of the inscription bears numerous scratches on the stone somewhat obliterating the letters enclosed in the brackets.
(For pati[ya])The stone has slightly peeled off here and with it the lower half of the letter ya has gone. There is a distinct mark of an anusvàra over ti. Probably the expression is patiìya, a corrupt form used in the sense of patnyà.
(For kàritàti) This expression obviously stands for kàrità iti.
The slanting stroke at the end seems to stand for the punctuation.

This portion of the inscription bears numerous scratches on the stone some what obliterating the letters enclosed in the brakets.
The stone has slightly peeled off here and with it the lower half of the letter 'ya' has gone. There is a distinct mard of an anusyara over 'ti'.
This espression obviously stands for 'Karitaiti'.
The slanting stroke at the end seems to stand for the punctuation.
