No. 75. (R, Bhatt.: Saìvat 500....), Lalitpur, Nabahil Stele.
| A slab of stone originally
belonging to Nabahil, Patan is now deposited in the National Museum. Date symbols are
missing except the symbol for 500. The inscribed part is 37 cm long and 30 cm wide. The
inscription bears a date of the old era but the charter is issued by Amùuvarmà.
Ùivadeva's name disappears. The inscription should be placed before the Bungmati charter
in chronological order. The witness is Mahàsàmanta Bhogavarma. One Bhoga-varma Gomi
figures as witness in the two Bhadgaon charters of Ùivadeva. Could they be identified as
one person? Perhaps Bhogavarma Gomi was a follower of Amùuvarmà and was promoted to the
rank of Mahàsàmanta at the date of the Na-bahil inscription. (R). Ùrè-Mahàsàmanta Aìùuvarman from the palace of Kailàsakóòa, dutaka - Mahàsàmanta Bhogavarmman; prasàdaõ kðta. Records the grant of Mèrmelè (?) to the inhabitants of . . êkhula . . (gràma), which property cannot be injured, for the protection of Ùaêkara-Nàràyaía (temple). The matter of grant was a emancipation from the paùcima-adhikaraía to this village. |
