No. 38. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.
The inscription is on the right-hand side-wall outside the verandah of Cave No. 66. The inscription is faintly cut on the rough surface and therefore, is not distinct. Nearly most of the letters of first line have been peeled off. It measures 1.4 m x 40 cm. Letters 5 cm. x 3 cm. Characters: Bràhmè of 2nd Century A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography: Both 'ta' and 'na' have a loop. The medials are faintly visible. (ShG) |
