No. 42. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.
The Inscription is on the right hand side-wall outside the verandah cave No. 22. It is deep cut but the rock is honeycombed and weather-worn, therefore, the letters are indistinct. It measures 38 cm x 48 cm. Leiters 7 cm x 4.5 cm. Characters: Bràhmè, Later part of 2nd Century A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography: The letters match with the period.(ShG) |
